The historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on January 23 at Shinsegae Duty Free's headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. Key officials present included Ryu Sin-yul, CEO of Shinsegae Duty Free and Wang Xun, Korean branch manager of China Southern Airlines.
This unprecedented collaboration is part of Shinsegae Duty Free's proactive marketing strategy to captivate individual tourists from China and Asia. With China Southern Airlines boasting an impressive 97 million members and a fleet of 900 aircraft, the agreement is anticipated to propel Shinsegae Duty Free's global reach and attract a diverse range of individual travelers.
Under the terms of the agreement, members of China Southern Airlines will receive exclusive benefits. Platinum members, in particular, will be accorded the status of New World Duty Free Black, granting access to the VIP Lounge at Shinsegae Duty Free Myeongdong. Additionally, various perks such as shopping subsidies, discount coupons for Incheon International Airport's duty-free shop, Starbucks drink exchange vouchers, and mask packs will be extended based on the level of purchase.
Shinsegae Duty Free plans to roll out these benefits starting from the end of February, with an eye toward expanding mileage accumulation and further enriching partnership benefits in subsequent phases.
