- Will be preparing for resumption of “business as usual” through full-scale remodeling/renovation of Myeongdong branch’s stores
- Sections closed during pandemic (Electronics, Character Goods, Food) to be reopened, with new sections (Popular Fragrances, K-Beauty, K-Fashion, etc.) to be added
- Complementary gifts or extra cash points to be provided for Character/Health purchases in celebration of renovation and “Family Month”
Shinsegae Duty Free will be undertaking a full-scale remodeling and renovation of its stores on the heels of the recent revamping of its beauty brand stores.
This effort is part of Shinsegae Duty Free’s preparations to return to “business as usual” in the post-COVID-19 world: namely, improving the overall atmosphere of its shopping areas, strategically reorganizing housed brands based on customer demand and the latest trends, and reopening stores and/or sections that were closed during the pandemic.
One notable change is the reopening of Toys & Electronics, Character Goods, and Food stores, which are traditional Shinsegae Duty Free favorites that were forced to close for the past two years.
The layout will be updated—mainly by adding new stores for character brands (e.g. Pororo, Kakao Friends), food, and nutritional supplements—to reflect the shopping needs of all ages.
Electronics stores will feature the latest products of Korean and foreign manufacturers, such as Samsung Electronics, Philips, and Panasonic.
Another noteworthy change is the positioning of popular perfumes and “K-beauty” products in a new section on the 11th floor.
Select shops will be newly featured for Atelier Des Ors, a Nice-based French fragrance house; Loewe, a luxury Spanish perfume brand; and two Korean beauty brands (Dr. Jucre and Blanc Diva).
There will also be various promotional events for in-store visitors in celebration of the remodeling. From April 27, customers who purchase a Pororo product or health supplement from Cenovis, FromBIO, or Yuhan (all three of which are on the 12th floor) will be given a gift from the respective brand.
In May, known as “Family Month” in Korea due to the prevalence of family-related holidays in this month, there will be events for newly-featured children’s and health brands that offer favorite products at reasonable prices.
Customers who make purchases between May 2 and 15, a two-week period that includes Children’s Day and Parents’ Day, will accrue three types of extra cash points. A total of 19 brands will be eligible, including baby/children’s brands (e.g. Pororo, Primage, Goongbe) and health supplement brands such as Cenovis and GNC.
A Shinsegae Duty Free official said, “The purpose of this most recent renovation is to, based on the lifting of the mandatory self-quarantine for overseas entrants as well as most social distancing measures, get ready to receive customers who are finally able to travel internationally for the first time since the pre-pandemic days. Shinsegae Duty Free will continue revamping our product categories and improving our facilities in the latter half of 2022 in order to offer our customers even greater convenience.”
In March, Shinsegae Duty Free signed contracts with many leading Korean fashion brands and completely reorganized its beauty brands. Customers will thus be able to visit stores of noted Korean fashion brands (e.g. LIFEWORK, Bigwave Collective, ALL THAT CAKE) and diverse Korean/foreign beauty brands (e.g. V&A, Molton Brown).
